Swing Left: After Maine Primary, Supporting Nominee Graham Platner Is Not Optional
10 JUNE 2026 (Washington, D.C.)—Yasmin Radjy, Executive Director of Swing Left, the national grassroots organization that focuses exclusively on helping Democrats win competitive general elections, issued the following statement today following the conclusion of the Maine Democratic Senate primary:
“As ruthless pragmatists, the Swing Left community fights to win Democratic majorities. That’s why in one of the highest stakes elections of the 2026 cycle, we are all in on defeating Susan Collins. Supporting Democratic nominee Graham Platner is not optional.
The winner of this race could easily determine control of the Senate through 2032 and with it, the ability of a future Democratic president to govern, of democratic institutions to recover and thrive, and of a nation to move beyond the devastating policies of MAGA extremism.
The alternative is potentially a reinforced Republican majority, with a fresh term for Susan Collins, a senator who has abandoned Mainers and voted with Donald Trump 95% of the time, helping to advance policies that have cost people their rights, threatened their health care, increased the cost of living, and in some cases cost lives.
Maine voters have made their choice. Now our responsibility at Swing Left is clear. Millions of Americans are counting on us to do our part in the fight to reject Republican control of the Senate, defeat Susan Collins, and elect Graham Platner. We’ll do it by organizing grassroots volunteers and donors across the country and by listening to, not lecturing, voters.”
About Swing Left
Since launching in 2017, Swing Left has mobilized grassroots volunteers to help Democrats win competitive races across the country. Its one million members have raised more than $140 million for Democratic candidates and organizations and reached more than 50 million voters through door knocks, phone calls, and letters.
Swing Left focuses exclusively on general election races in the most competitive races to help Democrats win governing majorities where they matter most. The organization does not take ideological or policy positions.
In 2026, Swing Left officially launched Ground Truth, a new model of grassroots organizing that reimagines how Democrats talk with voters to rebuild trust and win lasting power. Pairing deep listening at scale with AI-powered technology, Ground Truth talks to every voter — not just likely supporters — and produces rich, qualitative data that helps Democratic candidates win by anchoring their outreach and policies in the concerns of their constituents.
